We are supporting Annual Global Asbestos Awareness Week 1st-7th April 2025 with The London 7 Bridge Walk - Thursday 3rd April - Raising funds and awareness of the ongoing risks of asbestos & related diseases.
Asbestos is present in 80% of schools and 94% of hospital trusts in England.
Asbestos can be hidden in lagging on plant and pipework, insulation products such as fireproof panels, asbestos cement roofing material, floor tiles, textured wall coverings and even talc and make up products! Avoid products that contain Talc, also called Steatite and Magnesium Silicate Hydrate. There are many brands with talc-free products
Asbestos exposure can cause several types of asbestos diseases including Mesothelioma, Lung Cancer, Asbestosis, Pleural Thickening and Pleural Plaques.
Exposure can occur 30-40 years before asbestos disease symptoms appear.
Mesothelioma is a rare, incurable cancer and there are around 13 deaths per day.
